Microdermabrasion £55 1hr
This gentle, non-invasive procedure uses a mechanical device containing fine crystals to polish your skin, followed by a vacuum to remove the dead cells. This generates a new, smoother layer of skin to replace the dead skin that has been removed, resulting in a more youthful and radiant complexion.
Following microdermabrasion treatment, your skin is better primed to absorb anti-ageing or anti-acne creams, greatly improving their benefit. Furthermore, removal of the outermost layer of dead cells stimulates the cells that produce collagen and encourages new cell growth as part of the natural regeneration process. In turn, this stimulates blood flow which results in a more glowing complexion.
Microdermabrasion can be used for acne scar treatment, minimising imperfections such as minor blemishes, blackheads, clogged pores, age spots, fine lines whilst improving the appearance of tired, dull, flaky or oily skin as well as uneven skin tone.
Facial microdermabrasion is gentler than dermabrasion (which tends to be performed by medical practitioners for severe scars) and treatment takes about one hour.
Suitable for most skin types except sensitive & rosacea skin
Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types and does not cause any scarring. You may notice your skin is dry, flaky and exhibit more redness than normal after treatment, however, your skin should fade back to your usual skin tone the day following treatment. Some clients experience slight bruising from the suction – be reassured this is temporary and will fade quickly. For those with congested skin, microdermabrasion sometimes causes an initial breakout – this proves the treatment is working and the reaction should subside after a few days. You will see a significant and visible improvement in the quality of your skin after just one treatment, so it is well worth the minor discomfort and short-term side effects.
Single treatments & course
We recommend a course of multiple sessions to get the best results from your skin as skin cell cycles take six weeks to renew themselves. Three skin cell cycles are recommended as this is when you will start to see the best results. To prevent your skin from becoming overly sensitised, we recommend using sunscreen and to avoid excessive sun exposure and other facial treatments (such as retinol or acne cream) two weeks prior to and following your session.
Contra-indication to Microdermabrasion
Not everyone is a candidate for microdermabrasion treatments. If you have active or open acne lesions (such as pustules), it is best advised for you to wait until these lesions heal. If you have rosacea and your skin is inflamed, you are currently not a candidate. If you’re pregnant and have what is referred to as pregnancy mask (hyperpigmentation), it is best that you wait to have microdermabrasion treatments at least six months after you have given birth. If you have Herpes Simples I and II, microdermabrasion can cause an outbreak of this pre-existing condition.
For HIV and blood diseases this treatment is contraindicated, because the skin is thinned, and can cause lesions due to a compromised immune system. Lastly, if you have diabetes, you are also not a good candidate, because the skin of individuals with diabetes is extremely compromised by the many medications they must take. Individuals with tattoos take caution, as microdermabrasion treatments may lighten the pigment (colour) of your tattoo.
